Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Russian Wagner group, announced an act of revolt and his intention to overthrow the Russian military's top brass, accusing them of targeting his soldiers.
In an audio message, Yevgeny Prigozhin, 62, said :
“We are going onwards and we will go to the end. We will destroy everything that stands in our way."
This came as the most audacious challenge to President Vladimir Putin since the start of the offensive in Ukraine last year.
Yevgeny Prigozhin declared that he had infiltrated Russia with his forces to overthrow the country's military command.
He stated that he and his 25,000 warriors were willing to give up their lives.
The Wagner Group, formally known as PMC Wagner, is a Russian paramilitary organization that acts beyond Russian law. It is essentially a private military corporation and mercenary network.
What Putin is saying?
In an emergency broadcast address, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that a "armed mutiny" by the Wagner Group mercenary army was treason and that anyone who took up guns against the Russian military would be punished.
He said he would do all possible to protect Russia and that "decisive action" will be taken to settle the situation in Rostov-on-Don
Yevgeny has been a close aid to Putin at some point of time !!
